MY BABY REGISTRY

MY BABY REGISTRY

Building a registry, as I learned from our wedding, is like the ultimate window shopping experience. You get to wander around the stores and sift through online shops telling yourself “Ouuu we need this and this, and two of these, and definitely one of these”. It’s also the only shopping that didn’t constantly result in Chris cornering me with the classic spousal interrogation of “Is this a want, or a need?” EVERYTHING IS A NEED, at first… making it pretty difficult to sift through all the gadgets and goodies on the market, and come up with a reasonable list. I started my list early, and edited it often. The initial draft was much more of a fantasy list, and to be completely honest it had wayyyyy too many wants (don’t tell Chris). It also had a lot of items that I wasn’t going to need right away (think baby serve ware), and newborn needs eventually took priority.

I used the platform Babylist and hallelujah what a dream! I remember searching for something like this for my wedding registry and so many of the online platforms I was finding at the time were either specific to a single store, or they required gifts to be purchased online. Not everyone is into online shopping, I know for a fact my Mom still likes to go to a physical store, and see the item she is purchasing. Also, depending on the timeline, some people can be turned off by shipping times and want to ensure they have their gift wrapped and ready to go in time for the shower. Babylist solves all those problems; it’s like an online wish list that links up to any online shop you can find. The bonus is that it also allows people to purchase gifts from a traditional brick and mortar, and still allows them to mark the item as “purchased” on the online registry. Also, when building your list you can offer different locations that sell the same item and essentially price match for your guests (look at us being all considerate, how sweet).

So without further a do… here is my little registry baby that I loved and edited and nurtured into something I’m very proud of. It served me very well and left me with minimal regrets, but there were some! Also, there were a few extra items I wish I’d included (stay tuned for that blog post). Keep in mind we did not know the gender of our baby, so we kept it pretty light, bright and neutral (just the way I like it).
