LOU IS TWO

Well I’m not really sure how it’s possible but somehow, in the blink of an eye, you’re two! My sweet little Lou, even though you’ve consumed my days since the moment you arrived, each day with you still feels brand new. You’re constantly doing something new or saying something new, and I’m endlessly in awe. After everything we’ve done and continue to do, you still managed to wake up on the day of your party with the sniffles. My heart felt a sense of desperation that morning because I was so worried. Not about details or cake or decorations, but about how this day was supposed to be so special for you and I was so worried of anything that would dampen your day. But (after a quick happy birthday negative covid test) you didn’t skip a beat and literally skipped all throughout the house with a handful of balloons gathered tightly in your fist. You ran around the house with people who love you, opened presents, ate cake, twirled with Daddy, and never… let go of those balloons. It confirmed what I knew the very moment we met, you’re magic. I still say it everyday… I’d do it all over again.

From that snowy day in January when I saw a fuzzy pink line, to this very moment kissing you goodnight. No day has been too long, and each year has been far too fleeting. Please never stop signing at the top of your lungs to every Disney song you can think of. Or flapping your hands and feet like a little bird trying to fly whenever you get excited. Or crawling into bed with us on the weekends and snuggling under the covers. You’re my whole world Lou, and I can’t wait for the next year of you. More words, more tricks, more snuggles, a big sister… just know that these are the best days of my life. Happy second birthday my sweet, sniffly little Lou. I love you with every piece of my heart!
